Is the world nuts?!

I just turned on my TV to watch a movie we got from the library and as I was going to put it in, I noticed that rather than the standard mid-writers' strike trash on TV, it was news. I watched for a minute and found out that, in a pretty quiet suburb nearby, a man barged into a public works meeting, shot seven people, and was eventually himself shot and killed. Five of those he shot are now dead, including two police officers, and two are in the hospital.

I just wanted to add my voice to those giving condolences and prayers to all involved.

This blog post is not a condemnation of the people involved, nor your soap box for your spurious comments about minority communities. The man who did it is dead, and for those of you who believe in this, someone with the right is already passing its own judgment. I am only giving my support to those hurt in this event - the families, friends, and associates of ALL those wounded and killed.

I wish there was a way I could get away from this thing before its morphed into something political and racial but I think I'm too late. There are already people pointing fingers and drawing lines in the sand, demarcating 'Us' and 'Them'. And that just makes me sad for the city. It can't just be a tragedy, a horrific thing that happened. It has to be racial, it has to be political, it has to be the injustice of injustices or the further example of why certain people should live certain places.

All of it is ugly. All of it breaks my heart. Nobody gets through unscathed. Hell, you know its bad when people get on your case about how YOU react to something, one way or another.
