Hilzoy over at Obsidian Wings pointed me to this comment by Clinton at a fundraiser in February:
We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And they turn out in great numbers. And you know they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them.
Yes Clinton, it's so dismaying that voters are actually voting on issues. And how dare they turn out in droves for elections. I mean, the nerve of those voters.
BTW, Move On never opposed the war in Afghanistan. Now, she could have just been confusing Afghanistan and Iraq, which they did oppose, but that doesn't speak well for her either.

As you know I remain lukewarm about Barack Obama, but Hillary Clinton continues to anger and dismay me.

Hillary has been a disgrace during this campaign. Another example of her arrogrance.
Let's see ... it was Sen. Clinton who voted against a Senate resolution to condemn MoveOn for running the Petraeus ad. And how did Sen. Obama vote? Oh, yeah ... Obama didn't bother to vote. Since he couldn't vote "present" in the US Senate, he simply decided to not vote at all.
As for Sen. Clinton's description of what happened in some of the caucuses -- it pretty much matches what I heard from some of my friends who were there. And these are women who are not easily intimidated.
Maybe we need to rethink the concept of "democracy" if it involves people surrounding someone, shouting at them.
This is why I would like to see states do away with caucuses, and instead hold a primary. A primary gives more people the opportunity to participate, and the person gets to make their decision in the privacy of the voting booth.
And finally, it appears Sen. Obama still can't close the deal.
